National Cadet Corps (NCC)

The formation of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) on 15 July 1948 was a major milestone for the development of the student community. With its motto of “Unity and Discipline", the NCC has become instrumental in moulding the character and imparting a dynamic outlook to students during their school and college education. The Corps has expanded its horizons and now aims at developing character qualities amongst cadets and making them into good leaders and useful citizens so that they can take their appropriate place in all walks of life in the service of the nation. The qualities of leadership, discipline, espirit-de-corps, courage and confidence with a secular outlook, which are the hallmarks of a good and useful citizen, are inculcated in the cadets through a well conceived programme of institutional training combined with adventure sports and outdoor activities.

When PCVN opened the doors of NCC for girls in 2008, no one expected that girls would be enthusiastic about it, but surprisingly not only did many girls take active participation in regulation drills, but every year 5-10 of them have been participating in NCC Camps - a Nine day annual training camp for the Girl Cadets organized by 17 UP Girls Bn. NCC-Kanpur under supervision of 59 UP Battalion since 2009.
